Organizers of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival celebrate the move by making 1,000 general admission tickets available with Iowa Barnstormers Bacon Bowl Packages.
The Iowa Bacon Board, organizers of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, have officially announced the 8th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will take place at the Iowa Events Center on January 31, 2015. The move from the Iowa State Fairgrounds to the Iowa Events Center will allow for more bacon-lovers, more unique bacon experiences, more restaurants and more bacon – ALL UNDER ONE ROOF!
With plans to take over both Hy-Vee Hall and Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, the one-day event will stretch over 4 levels and comfortably accommodate over 17,000 bacon-loving participants and volunteers. Brooks Reynolds, Chair of the Iowa Bacon Board and festival co-founder, explained how the change will enhance the festival experience. “We’ll be able to hold ALL the tasty festivities under one roof, while providing bacon-lovers improved access to hotels, parking ramps, buses, and an integrated skywalk system to boot.” Reynolds continued, “Not only will the space offer more convenience, but we plan to creatively use the multiple levels, halls and rooms to provide a richer bacony experience. Seriously, dudes. Seriously!”
While the quirky event has continued to increase in size each year, from 200 participants in 2008 to 13,500 this past February, tickets have historically sold out in less than an hour. So, in an effort to make sure the most dedicated bacon-lovers are able to participate, the Iowa Bacon Board will celebrate the festival’s new home by releasing 1,000 general admission tickets in conjunction with the Iowa Barnstormer’s Bacon Bowl taking place on July 19.
