I talked earlier with the Polk County Emergency Management Director, A.J. Mumm. The county is currently, like most other counties around the country, looking for professional-grade medical gear to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. -Kate

That includes:

  • N95 Masks
  • Isolation/Surgeon Masks
  • Face masks with attached eye shield
  • Isolation gowns
  • Full Face Shields

If businesses have this equipment, they should contact the Polk County Health Department – (515)-286-3798. The county is not currently seeking homemade masks.

The Polk County Health Department has created a short video to help employers understand some of what is happening with COVID-19. It covers someone being sick, what to do about “doctor’s notes,” the wish that employers would have non-essential employees work from home, the importance of social distancing, and cleaning your workplace.
