Gwar gives back

Gwar gives back

Such a great story to tell on this Giving Tuesday!

It’s not unusual for body parts to go missing at a Gwar show. Hell, some people getting eaten on stage all together. But it’s good to know that one of the most theatrical bands on the planet knows how to give as well as take.

At a recent show in San Francisco, a Gwar fan lost his leg. Literally. The dude was crowd surfing and somehow, his prosthetic leg popped off in the fracas and surfed another direction. So, Gwar bassist, Beefcake the Mighty, came to the rescue to reunite fan and leg.

“If anybody’s got a fake leg out there, or got an extra fake leg, send it this way because this guy needs his [effing] leg.”

I’ve been to a ton of shows where people with prosthetics and even wheelchairs go surfing through the crowd, and it’s a beautiful sight to see every time. It’s also beautiful to know how the rock/metal community takes care of their own. Whether someone falls down in the pit, or a leg goes flying, we take care of each other.
