It’s been five months since the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The wounds are still fresh to so many of us. He was a larger than life personality, one hell of a drummer, a singer and loved performing. While there’s been plenty of speculation, official results still have not been released as the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Columbia stated they would “continue the medical studies to achieve total clarification of the events that led to the death of Taylor Hawkins” and continue to investigate his exact cause of death in a “timely manner.”
In June, the band along with Taylor’s widow, announced plans for two tribute shows to take place in the month of September, one in London and the other in Los Angeles. A few short weeks later, the lineup stated to form and earlier this week, the full lineup for both shows was announced. Also announced, was that the first show which takes place on Saturday September 3rd at Wembley Stadium, will be available to watch thanks to streaming services like Paramount+, Pluto TV, CBS and MTV Entertainment. On top of that, proceeds from the concert tickets and merch sales will benefit two great charities that were chosen by Taylor’s family; Music Support and MusiCares.
The Wembley show will be streamed in its entirety to the world with live coverage on Paramount+, Pluto TV, and the MTV Brand YouTube Channels beginning at 10:30 AM, CDT. On demand access will begin the week of September 5th. I am also hoping that a DVD will follow.
The lineup will include Travis Barker of Blink 182, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Brian May of Queen, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana and the drumming prodigy, Nandi Bushell. There will even be a performance by Taylor’s other band, Chevy Metal. .
