Taylor Hawkins’ Widow and Foo Fighters Announce Tribute Shows

It’s been almost three months since the world was stripped of one of the greatest rock and roll drummers ever to pick up a pair of sticks. We are still reeling from that loss. We still don’t know exactly how Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died, but the fans, his band and family are trying to start their healing process. What better way to heal than thru music?

On June 8th, Taylor’s widow, Alison, issued a statement thanking everyone for the outpouring of support in the wake of his death.

That same day, Foo Fighters announced, that with Alison’s blessing, two tribute shows that would take place in the month of September: the third in London at Wembley Stadium and the 27th in Los Angeles at Kia Forum.

When this announcement was made, other than Foo Fighters, no other bands had been mentioned. But earlier today, a poster went up on the band’s social media listing the “first wave of special guests” contributing to the shows. Names like Stewart Copeland, drummer of The Police, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Joan Jett, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, Brian May of Queen, Wolfgang Van Halen, Gene Simmons of Kiss, Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers. It even totes a performance from Taylor’s side band, Chevy Metal.

More artists are set to be announced and hopefully more shows than just the two.
