Ghost frontman Papa Emeritus IV threw out the first pitch yesterday at the White Sox/Guardians game.
Ghost has their new album, Impera has been out a couple of months now with a successful single, “Spillways” and just landed their first ever Billboard Hot 100 placement with the song, “Mary on a Cross”, from their previous album, Prequelle
The Ghost Facebook page even created a spoof of Topps trading cards called “Popps” and featured Papa on it with the announcement of the ceremonial first pitch.
And Papa delivered. He looked like he walked off the set of The Warriors as a member of The Baseball Furies gang. He walked to the mound with authority to “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps, remembered to step over the white line (a big superstition in baseball) and delivered a decent pitch, though it was just a bit outside. Still pretty cool though.
I can only imagine what the fans at Guaranteed Rate Field thought when he first strolled out, as I’m guessing a fair number of them have no clue who Ghost is.
