Walking Fed Food Drive

LAZER 103.3’s annual Walking Fed Food Drive is back with one goal: to help the Food Bank of Iowa provide meals for hungry kids, families, and neighbors across Central Iowa — especially during a time when so many in our community are struggling.

Each year, Walking Fed brings listeners, local partners, and our community together to make a real difference. Thanks to your generosity, last year’s campaign raised over $30,000, helping provide critical meals and support for Iowans in need. This year, with the need still growing, we hope to make an even greater impact.

When you donate, you’re doing more than giving money — you’re helping put food on the table for families who might otherwise go without, making sure children stay nourished and ready to learn, and bringing comfort and hope to neighbors throughout Central Iowa.

LAZER 103.3’s Walking Fed is presented by Confluence Brewing — where good things come together. Confluence Brewing will match every dollar donated up to $5,000, doubling the meals and support we can provide for hungry Iowans.

WALKING FED BROADCAST

Listen Friday, March 6 for an all-day live broadcast from the LAZER studios, 6 am – 6 pm. Throughout the day, special guests from the community will join us to share stories and discuss the real impact your generosity makes for children, families, and neighbors in our community.

DONATIONS

A donation of $7.20 will feed a family of four for one day.
A $25 donation will feed a parent and child for a week.
A donation of $50 will feed a family of four for a week.
$100 provides 167 meals.
A $216 donation would feed a family of four for 30 days.

FOOD BANK FACTS

Food insecurity has increased in every Iowa county.
Food Bank of Iowa has been responding to rising and record needs for food assistance for the past four years.
More than 40% of the people the Food Bank of Iowa serves are children.
More than 385,000 Iowans (1 in 8, or 12%) don’t know where they will find their next meal
120,220 are kids. 16.6% of Iowa children, or 1 in 6, face hunger.
In Polk County, about 57,000 people are affected by hunger, including 20,000 kids. 15% of the state’s overall food insecure population live in Polk County.
Child food insecurity is higher than 20% in 11 Iowa counties, all rural. Food Bank of Iowa serves nine of those counties. Hardest hit is Appanoose County, where nearly 25% of kids and 17% of all residents face food insecurity.
Food insecurity is even higher for Black (30%) and Hispanic populations (21%).
The annual meal gap in Iowa is nearly 73 million meals.
Food Bank of Iowa can source a meal for about 60 cents. For less than $2, we can feed an Iowan for an entire day.
96 cents of every dollar donated go directly to feed our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Food Bank of Iowa sources food, keeps it safe, and delivers it to 700 pantries and meal sites across 55 counties. More than 200 of our partners are right here in the metro.
Food Bank of Iowa distributed nearly 28 million pounds of food in CY2025.
